Some people know how to dance before they can walk. For me, I was a Ravens fan before I could breathe. Born in late August of 1996, I “attended” the Ravens second ever preseason game with my father and very pregnant mother days prior to my birth. I quite literally grew up with the Ravens, loving every second of it (except for the 2006 playoffs, which we shall not speak of).

Always a nerd, now a data nerd

While I’ve never been confused for cool, I’ve only very recently become a data nerd…err, I mean gotten into the field of data analysis. After blindly stumbling into a business analyst role in my day job and discovering I rather liked it, I began exploring the relatively nascent world of football analytics on Twitter.

With untold help from the many great NFL analytics resources, particularly those built around the open-source nflfastR model for play-by-play data, I’m slowly building up my understanding of key football data trends.

Come on this journey with me

I’ve started this blog hoping to further the conversation around the Ravens with nuanced, data-influenced opinions. Some posts will be more data-focused than others, and some may not have any data at all, but I will strive to apply the same level of rigor to each post.

I’m sure to make many mistakes and learn much more than I share. My hope for you is that you find a unique perspective somewhere on this site that enriches your conversations about Ravens football.
